Awarded to Lieutenant Sirotkin Andrey Nikitovich born in 1916
with Order of the Red Banner for commanding the battery on the offensive on January 14, 1944.
 

Short Description of his achievements:

 

When attacking the strongly fortified enemy defenses on January 14, 1944 the battery commander was killed and its command was taken over by the lieutenant Sirotkin. Showing examples of courage and heroism and pushing guns to open positions, he destroyed 4 enemy bunkers with maintenance personnel and equipment. On the first day of the battle on the approaches to the village Pirozhki lieutenant Sirotkin was wounded, 2 fingers on his left hand were torn of, but he continued to remain in the battle. On the approaches to the village Vilpovici was wounded a second time though lieutenant Sirotkin stayed on the battlefield and continued to command the battery. The battery under his command has fully completed its task.

Serving in the Red Army since 1937 lieutenant Sirotkin was also rewarded with medal "Combat Service", Order of the Red Star, Order of the Red Banner, Order of Lenin and medal “For the defense of Leningrad”.

 

The medal is made of solid silver with a Deep red enamel work. The serial number and maker mark are located at the 6 o’clock position of its slightly convex reverse. The number is very low: "36741". Complete with war time original red and White ribbon which are mounted on a metal back plate with a safety pin to the reverse.

 

Strong colors and fine details. The enamel only shows a small flake to the top of the medal just below the suspension ring.

 

High ranked Russia medal, low number and in very good condition. Interesting research Project!!
