Russia WWII Medal for the Defense of Odessa Type 2
The Medal "For the Defence of Odessa" was awarded to all participants in the defence of Odessa - soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and troops of the NKVD, as well as persons from the civilian population who took part in the defence of Odessa during its siege by German forces.
The medal "For the Defense of Odessa" was awarded to approximately 38.000 people.
This Medal for the Defense of Odessa (Type 2) Die stamped of gilded brass. The medal comes complete with original ribbon which are mounted on a original plate made of Brass.
Medals issued by the VOENKOMAT (military commissariat) were awards for those who took part in the battle, but for some reason did not receive their award during the Second World War and in the first post-war years. The medal is in good, Little used condition.
