Russia WWII Order of the Red Star With Research to Flight Officer, Air Force troops.

 

Awarded to Deputy head of the Political Department Peskov Nikolay Ivanovich.

 

Born in 1909, Nationality Russian. In Red Army from 1932
at the rank, Lieutenant Colonel. Serving as Deputy Chief of the Political Department of the 5th Guards Bomber Aviation Corps.

 

The Order is made of pure silver (the silver weight is about 30g) with a Deep Red enamel work. The maker mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post. The serial number reads: 1540171. The order shows signs of wear and age with some minor chips in the enamel. See Pictures!

 

This is what we find in the Russian military archives about this order:


"Deputy chief of the Political Department Peskov was continuously on the fronts of the Patriotic war from August 8, 1941 until the end of the war. Since June 23, 1944, working as deputy chief of the Political Department, he did a great motivation work to ensure successful combat missions in order to defeat German troops in the summer offensive of the Red Army of 1944 in the Baltic states and eastern Prussia. Skilfully mobilizing army personnel to defeat the German troops in Courland, he provided a high offensive impulse of army personnel in successful missions of effective bombing of the planned targets and thereby greatly assisted the Corp’s command in the successful completion of the combat missions. As a result of his work, the corps personnel received more than 10 acknowledgments of their achievements from the Supreme Commander.
Deputy chief of the Political Department Peskov was also rewarded with Order of the Patriotic War I degree, medal for military merit and other rewards and medals."
