Awarded to Private Toporikov Konstantin Nikolaevich with Order of the Red Star. May 5,1945. Toporikov was born in 1920. Nationality Russian, In Red Army from 03.11.1942
Military rank Private: Radio operator of the 114th Guards Mortar Regiment, 35th Guards Separate Mortar Brigade, 1st Belorussian Front.

 

The Order of the Red Star was given to Red Army and Navy personnel for exceptional service in the cause of the defence of the Soviet Union in both war and peace. Also awarded for 15 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
Orders of the third variety was produced at the Moscow Mint(MMD) in February-March 1945. The minimum known number is 986679, the maximum is 1753225.
This Order is made of pure silver (the silver weight is about 30g) with a Deep Red enamel work. The maker mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post. The serial number reads: 1712391. Good condition with intact enamel works, signs of age and use with light surface wear and a light age patina.

 

This is what we find in the Russian military archives about this order:

"During the period of hostilities in the city of Berlin from April 24, 1945 to May 2, 1945, with the support of the 1373th Infantry Regiment of the 416th Infantry Division, radio operator Toporikov uninterruptedly provided radio communications, the regiment commander with advanced observation posts (OP) of battery commanders. Telephone communications were often disrupted due to heavy shelling and fires. Only the persistent and dedicated work of the radio operator Toporkov ensured accurate firing and the fulfillment of tasks assigned to the regiment. Worthy of being awarded the Order of the Red Star.
May 5, 1945
Private Toporikov was also rewarded Order of the Red Star February 26, 1945."
