Luftwaffe Hilfsforster's Forestry Service Tunic
The "Reichsforstamt" was sub-divided into four main departments: the "Gemeinde Forst Dienst" (General Forestry Service), "Privat Forst Dienst" (Private Forestry Service), "Heeres Forst Dienst" (Army Forestry Service), and the "Luftwaffe Forst Dienst" (Air-force Forestry Service). Personnel in all four services were assigned a uniform.
Rare Luftwaffe forestry service tunic made of green brushed tricot cloth. Four button front closure, each button made of bakelite with ribbed fronts. Open collar style with green colored collar made of high quality cloth. To each shoulder is sew-in shoulder boards each with one gold pip pinned in Place on black wool backing which denotes the rank Hilfsfoerster serving in Luftwaffe. To each collar is a black collar tab with Three silvered oak leaves pinned in Place, both tabs are neatly hand sewn in Place. Above the right chest is a very rare Luftwaffe, foerster EM/NCO's national eagle on dark green backing also neatly hand sewn in Place.
The sleeves has French cuffs with dark green piping along the tops of these cuffs. Slash pockets, with buttoned pocket flaps are to each hip. Above the left hip pocket is a slash, which opens to the interior, for the frog of the hunting cutlass. Two pleated breast pockets whith scallopped pocket flaps. The left breast pocket has loops for sewn for Three Awards.
The interior is fully lined in grey/green rayon, with pyama striped sleeves also made of rayon.
As often seen on service and dress tunic this exampel shows more use to the inside compared to the outside. The outside is in very good condition with one period made mending located to the skirt, see Pictures. Inside shows signs of use, especially to the lower sleeves. All in all we rate the condition as very good.
Very rare tunic, for the hard core foerster collector or if you already has "Everything", most likely is this one missing in your collection!!
