Kriegsmarine Field Grade Officer's Visor Cap

Kriegsmarine Field Grade Officer\'s Visor Cap

Kriegsmarine Field Grade Officer's Visor Cap

Regulations of May 13TH 1936 introduced new identifying visor trim for officers ranks to distinguish the officers from the NCO/EM ranks. The new visor trim came in three different patterns with one pattern for Company Grade Officers, one for Field Grade Officers and the third for Flag Officers.

This is a high quality 1936 pattern, private purchase visor cap. Made of dark navy blue doeskin wool construction cap with a black, ribbed mohair centerband. The top crown edge and both the top and bottom edges of the centerband in the same navy blue doeskin wool as the balance of the cap. The front center of the cap has a hand embroidered national eagle in gold bullion mounted on a cut-out navy blue wool base. The front center of the centerband has a hand embroidered oak-leaf wreath in gold bullion threads encompassing a national tri-color cockade in black and silver wire threads with an inserted red felt centerpiece. The wreath and cockade are mounted on a padded, cut-out navy blue wool base. Both the eagle and cockade are neatly hand sewn in Place.

The cap has a black patent leather chinstrap. The chinstrap is secured to the cap by two small, fire gilded buttons. The cap has a black vulcanfibre visor with a navy blue wool covering to the top edge with a row of hand embroidered oak-leaves in gold bullion wire threads. The forward edge of the visor is trimmed in simulated black leather. The visor embroidery signifies the owner held the one of the Field Grade Officers ranks of Korvettenkapitän, Fregattenkapitän or Kapitän zur See.

The interior of the cap is fully lined in yellow/gold colored rayon cloth. Sweat Diamond made of celluloid, machine sewn in Place and complete. The interior of the cap also has a very nice complete leather sweatband.

The cap is in good large size, roughly size 57.5 - 58. Overall clear signs of real use with clear signs of use to all exposed parts. The bullion insignias and oak-leaves to the visor has a very nice age toning which match the rest of the cap perfectly in age. Inside shows similar signs of extended time of use with sweat and grease stains to both the rayon cloth as well as to the leather sweatband.

Completely untouched and very desirable Kriegsmarine field grade officer's visor cap!!
