Heer Late War Bergmütze Feild Cap

Heer Late War Bergmütze Feild Cap

Heer Late War Bergmütze Feild Cap

Very cool cap super late war production made of cheaper field grey colored cloth. To the front is a national eagle and national cockarde both hand sewn in Place with the eagle slightly overlapping the cockarde (two piece insignia). Fold down side panels buttoned down with two beige colored polished buttons made of Wood. To the left side is an metal "edelweiss" insignia hand sewn in Place.

Inside is lined with grey colored brushed cotton. To the  inside, sides is a pressed paper also called "ersatz" sweatband neatly hand sewn in Place. The sweatband shows clear signs of use with partly broken and missing threads to the front. No visable markings. Size is about 55.5 - 56.

The cap is a true bergmütze with the short visor and full sweatband. Still a VERY late war production made of cheap cloth and ersatz leather. Most likely a private purchase cap made for an gebirgsjäger officer. Still with EM/NCO's type of insignias. Nothing wrong with that when we have to keep in mind which year this cap was produced. Super late 1944 or even 1945 in our opinion. The cap shows clear signs of use and age all over and especially to all exposed parts. There is also a couple of moth and wear holes, please see Pictures!

Scarce type of cap, a salty dog to be honest. Still super cool in its own way. A time capsule to show the lack of supply the germans suffered at the latest stages of World War Two!!
