Luftwaffe M40 SD Helmet With Camouflage Netting
 
Stamped, sheet steel construction helmet with rougher dark, field-grey textured paint. The left side of the helmet has a second pattern Luftwaffe eagle decal. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet has a M31 leather liner with all eight of it’s fingers intact. The reverse, interior, neck guard apron is serial/lot number stamped, "168". Original chinstrap is and liner still intact. The liner is size marked "58". Helmet size is 66. The helmet is in very good condition with 99% of the original darker field grey paint intact, the decal is intact to about 95%. Leather parts is a bit dry.
 
The helmet has an original camouflage netting tied in Place. Helmet camouflage nettings was introduced in August 1942 and designed to fit loosely on a helmet and allowed the individual Soldier to secure natural foliage to the helmet as camouflage.
 
This net is rectangular shaped and made of natural green twisted cord netting The netting has an all around, green drawstring inserted through the net openings near the outside edges. There is several minor Cuts and the net is stained all over but mostly to the helmet edges. The net match the helmet perfectly in wear and tear and is in good used condition.
 
Used set in very good condition, the helmet net in combination with the dark-grey painted helmet and the Close to perfect decal makes a killer display!!
