Luftwaffe M40 SD Helmet, Flight School Marked
Stamped sheet steel construction helmet with factory applied blue/grey "Luftwaffe" paint. The left side of the helmet has a second pattern Luftwaffe eagle decal. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet has a M31 leather liner with all eight of it’s fingers intact. Original tie string still intact. Liner band is dent free and has never been out of the helmet. The reverse, interior, neck guard apron is serial/lot number stamped, "T770". Inside left side has a size mark stamp, "62". Original chin strap made of Brown leather still intact. The strap is very nicely engraved "flgfsch/F1 AUSB RGT/21". For flieger far schüle F1 or "flight pilot school F1, education regiment 21".
The helmet is in very good condition with 99% of the original field grey paint intact, the decal is intact to about 99%. Leather parts shows signs of age and use. Still very good condition.
Very hard to find in better condition and the marked chinstrap is the "icing on the cake"!!
