Heer / Waffen-SS Winter Rabbit Fur Cap
The fur caps were a standard issue item and were distributed to all EM/NCO’s for the winter season with other winter garments and were to be returned to the units storage depot at the end of the season for storage, repair and cleaning to be reissued the next autumn/winter. Although there was no official standard model of the fur cap the most commonly encountered type followed the basic pattern of the Mountain and M43 caps with fold down back and side panels designed to protect the wearers ears and neck.
Field-grey wool construction cap with rabbit fur front, fold down side ear lugs and back panels. Elastic tie-string intact as well as the corresponding large button for closure. The cap is lined with White Heavy cotton. Lining is rbnr marked as well as size marked "57". The cap shows signs of use. The fold down panels has spots of orange stains. Rabbit fur is Clean and smooth.
