Gold Grade Close Combat Clasp by Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid

The Close Combat Clasp was introduced on November 25th 1942 for award to personnel who fought in hand-to-hand combat situations unsupported by armor. The Clasp was issued in three grades: bronze, silver and gold. Criteria for award of the clasps consisted of fifteen days of hand-to hand combat for bestowal of the bronze clasp, thirty days of hand-to-hand combat for the silver clasp and fifty days of hand-to-hand combat for the gold clasp. There was also a prescribed combat to time served ratio, enabling long serving personnel to be eligible for award of a clasp.

This is a Gold Grade Close Combat Clasp manufactured by "FLL", "Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid". The badge is constructed in die stamped zinc with a gold wash finish. Clasp retains about 90% of original finish on obverse, and about 60% on reverse. Backing plate missing as often seen on úsed Close combat clasps. Hook, Catch and pin all intact to the reverse. The pin is a Little bent from use. It's still in perfect working order and will display VERY well when pinned to a tunic for example.

This badge has seen some action. There is signs of age and use and the badge has a very nice age patina. Also is most of the original gold color wash still intact. All in all, used badge in very good condition!

Very scarce badge in used still very good condition!!
