Pilot’s Badge Maker Marked BSW

The Pilot’s Qualification Badge was originally introduced on January 19th 1935. The badge was officially adopted by the Luftwaffe on March 26TH 1936, by order of Hermann Göring. The Pilot’s Badge was awarded on an individual basis to personnel who had successfully completed the appropriate theory and flight training and had achieved their pilot's license.

Die struck alloy construction, two piece badge. The eagle is attached to the wreath by two small dome headed rivets which are visible to the reverse. The smooth reverse of the wreath has a soldered barrel type hinge a round vertical pin and catch all intact. The reverse of the eagle is well marked with the impressed manufacturer's logo and initials "BSW", indicating manufacture by BrĂ¼der Schneider, Wien.

The badge shows strong details, the wreath has about 65% of the silver paint still intact. The eagle has about 90% of the original silver paint intact. One of the rivets has been replaced, profesionally done and most likely a war time repair. The new rivet is perfectly lined with the badge and shows through the wing at the front. The badge also has a very nice age and use patina all over.

Repaired example, priced accordingly. Perfect example to display on a flight tunic!!
