Iron Cross 1'st Class 1939 L/16 With Award Case of Issue
Iron Cross 1'st Class 1939 Three piece Construction Iron core, and silvered metal frames. Flat reverse with hinge, pin and catch all intact. To the reverse at the bottom cross arm, LDO manufacturers code mark (Leistungsgemeinschaft Deutscher Ordenhersteller) L/16 for "Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid" stamped. The cross is in good condition and retains about 95% of the earlier black black paint finish to the Iron core. Bright silver finish intact to the edges. The cross shows a light and even age patina. The cross also shows a couple of minor surface spots of rust.
The cross comes housed in it's original case of issue. The cross is made of Wood with black leather imitation cover made of paper. Fold open top lid, with an silvered frame Iron Cross. The bottom lid has a white colored flock cover with a depression to the center which fit the Iron Cross. The case shows light signs of age and chafe-wear with intact and functional push button.
Early maker marked first class Iron Cross in good condition with award case of issue!!
