East Front Medal Maker Marked 5
The Russian Front Medal was instituted May 26th 1942 to commemorate the first winter campaign in Russia. Qualification being at least fourteen days of participation in combat on the Russian front between November 15th 1941 and April 15th 1942.
The medal is made of die struck Zinc and comes complete with intact suspension ring and ribbed rayon ribbon. The suspension ring is maker marked stamped "5" for "Hermann Wernstein, Jena-Lobstedt / Thüringen". The medal is in good condition with most of the grey paint intact and some traces of the silver paint.
