Helvetia Military Watch.

 

Helvetia Military watch from the late 1930´s – early 1940´s. The brass case 34 mm wide (ex crown) 18 mm between lugs, which still has more or less all silver plating in place, steel back case which is marked ”wasserdicht” (Waterproof) and ”stahlboden” (Stainless steel) and has the number of the watch 500055. Back case is in the same very good condition as the case. These watches where typically delivered to many different Armies during WWII bothe the Axis and the Allied.

 

Watch has a very nice original untouched black dial which turned slightly tropical with Radium or Tritium luminous Arabic numbers as well as printed minut and 10 second markers. The marking does still glow slightly. The dial is also marked for the maker ”HELVETIA” and watreproof. The hands are watchs original and still has the original luminous material, they also glow slightly. The crown is a original one but is a replacement in slightly better condition then the rest of the watch. Movement marked ”HELVETIA” and 820B for the movement type is serviced in June 2019 and movement is very clean and nice, watch runs perfectly. The caseback has several service markings to it on backside as well as the back case number 979. The watch comes on a period Brown Leather Military strap with all original attachments as well as stainless steel period buckle.

 

This is a very nice Military watch with patina but no damage, the period strap makes it look so fantastic, as well as the original dial, not hard to find a nicer one in this condition.
