Then promotions. And after that the reason why he should receive the German Cross in Gold. In short there were five different occations when Fehlhaber, as a commander of his company, fought back Russian attacks that had much larger forces of both men and heavy weapons, like tanks. He have seen to that the Soviets could not brake through during these occasions and been a very drifty leader of his men. He also gathered other men at one occasion and led those as well, his bravery and skills as a leader have been very high.


First, the application is signed twice by Frank Kleffner.

 
Frank Kleffner was an Obersturmbannführer who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. This was awarded to recognize extreme battlefeild bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.

 
He was promoted to an officer rank of Untersturmführer in April 1935 and Hauptsturmführer by the start of World War II, when he was given command of the 13th Company, SS Totenkopf Infantry Regiment in the newly formed SS Totenkopf.

 
He was awarded the Knight's Cross, while in command of the SS Motorcycle Battalion (Thule) in February 1942, while fighting on the east front.


In early February, the Soviets capture Bjakowo, cutting off the Totenkopf, from the man German force, II. Armeekorps, encirled around Demyansk. Kleffner took over the command at Bjakowo and on February 19, he led the survivors in an assault which resulted in a breakthrough to the main force, an action for which he was awarded the Knight's Cross on 21st February.

 
He was killed on March 16 1945 during the Soviet offensive, north of Lake Velence in Hungary, when the armoured personnel carrier he was travelling in was hit by a Soviet shell.

 
Then the application is approved by Hellmuth Becker, who condones Fehlhabers large skills and approves the awardning of the German Cross in Gold.


Hellmuth Becker was a SS-Brigadeführer and Generalmajor der Waffen-SS. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and commander of the SS Division Totenkopf.

 
He was triald by Soviet authorities twice, for war crimes and sabotage, and was executed in 1952.


And finally also approved by Herberg Gille.

 
Herbert Otto Gille SS-Gruppenführer and Generalleutnant der Waffen-SS. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds, making him the most highly decorated Waffen-SS member of the war. After the war, Gille became active in HIAG, a lobby group and a revisionist veteran's organisation founded by former high-ranking Waffen-SS personnel in West Germany in 1951.
