SS 1933 Dagger, Böker

SS 1933 Dagger, Böker

SS 1933 Dagger, Böker

This Böker model 1933 SS degen is about as good as they come. Most probably manufactured in 1934 it has endured the test of time in an incredible way.

The grip is in very good condition with only a hairline superficial scratch (not crack) on the front side against the lower crossguard. The nickel silver eagle and the SS runes are inserted with true Böker craftmanship. The emamel of the runes has some slight scuffing to the lower part of the button, barely visible to the naked eye. The grip to crossguard fit which has become one of the Böker trademarks is exemplary. The crossguards are made of nickel silver as the early maker marked daggers always have. Böker utilized two differnt types of crossguards, one in house made version and one standard version seen on most other early daggers. This has the standard one. The lower crossguard is stamped with the Roman numeral I, which indicates that this dagger was delivered through an SS distribution facility in Munich, as seem to be the case with all Bökers on the market.

The blade is nice and bright, and a fine crossgraining is visible when hold up against the light. There are some slight graying from age especially on the obverse upper half. There are no nicks to the edges, it has not been sharpened and the blade is in its full length. The characteristic dark Böker motto with its long curved tail on the ß is nice and crisp. The blade has the usual runner marks from being drawn from the scabbard. On the reverse we find the larger Böker "lifeless tree" logo which was chosen by the firm for the non-Röhm daggers.

The scabbard is beautifully preserved, with the blued (anodized) body without any indentations and with only some tiny rust spots and scratches. Small specks of the original lacquer can be found around the scabbard fittings as well as along the edges of the scabbard body. The scabbard fittings are made of nickel silver, as the early daggers should have. The lower one has taken some minor dings.

The Böker "Dienstdolch" has become the standard to which all other SS daggers are measured against. Here is a chance to aquire a timeless and beautiful piece of SS history!
