WW2 Japanese Late War Signed Flag Full of Patriotic Messages

Size - 85cm X 66cm.  Made of silk.  Due to the frailty of material, it shows a couple of tiny holes and scratches, even though there is no rips or tears.  It’s a usual signed “good luck” flag but what is unique about it is many patriotic slogans and message written along with signatures.

From the flag, it isn’t clear whom it was dedicated to but strong passion for victory is felt. Besides the usual “Praying for the continued luck in the fortunes of war” there are such writings as “Loyalty”, “Dying for the Country”, “Human Bullet”, “Loyalty and Filial Piety”, “Peace of Asia”, “Long-Term Construction”, “Brave Volunteer Service”, “Untiring Perseverance”, “Universal Brotherhood, all eight corners of the world under one roof”, “Holy War”, “The Japanese Spirit or the Soul of  Yamato”, “Enhancement of Glory”, “Volunteer to dedicate oneself”, “The Japanese Spirit”, “Keep it up!”, “The Taste of the Japanese Sword", “The Samurai Spirit or Bushido”, “Damn it!”, “Construction of Paradise”, “Praying for your endeavor for construction of peace in Asia”, etc.

Writings reflect the desperate minds of the Japanese who have to justify the war efforts even though the war was increasingly getting more difficult by the counteroffensive by the stronger enemy than China, namely, the United States. The kanji character in the center of the red circle (Hinomaru) is (“Spirit”) which was the only thing Japanese soldiers had to rely upon when they are face to face with the overwhelming material abundance in the military power of the Allied forces.

Super nice, well used flag, an unmistakable original late wartime example!!
