Prussian Officer's Saber M1889

Prussian officer's saber model 1889 but this one was produced after 1906 due to the black painted scabbard. This is a private purchase saber with the more exclusive foldable semi-basket guard. Issue types had an fixed basket. The blade meassures: 79cm, totall length with handle is 99cm. Doubble fullered blade in good condition. The red felt stopper is still intact. Handle is missing the Kaiser Willhelm II metal cypher (pretty easy spare part to find though). Wire threads intact to the grip. Leather loop for inserting the finger, in Place but broken.

Brass guard-basket, still functional with foldable device. The brass parts shows a nice age patina. The sword comes complete with correct WWI period Officer's portapee.

The scabbard is dent free with with about 90% of the black paint still intact. All in all sword and scabbard is in good/average used condition with signs of wear and age all over.

Many officer's used this swords during WW1, not as a primary weapon but more as a status symbol!!
