Baden Dragoon Landwehr Rgt Officers M 1891 Pickelhaube.
The pickelhaube of commissioned officers holding a rank from Lieutenant to Colonel are all identical in feutures, but not in quality. The quality of helmets within these ranks depended entirely on how much the individual wished to spend. Regardless of the unit, officer Pickelhaube share common features such as: the undersides of visors are lined, Officer Kokarden are carried, and the "egg & dart" perlring was matched with star-pattern spike (wich is removable on this helmet) base brads, and chinscales were worn. The pickelhaube is in Very Good Little worn condition.It has some slight marks and minor scrathes to the forward leather bill and also to the neck area.The marks on the forward leather bill comes mainly from chafewear of the chinscale. To the front it has the weapon emblem for Baden, which is a Greif with Crown holding a sword and a weaponshield and as it is a Landwehr Officers helmet it have nothing written on the lower bandeu but rather on the Landwehr Officers kreutz "FĂĽr FĂĽrst und Vaterland". All metal details are guilt except. The holes made to the insignia in the pickelhaubeis snug fit and this have never had any other insignias then the Baden, it is Red with Golden border, at the right side is the National Cocade.All metal details still retains more or less all their guilt color and are evenly matched in patina. The whole pickelhaube present itself very nicely, and it is a very rare unit.
Inside the pickelhaube has a internal leather sweatband and is lined with the typical silk skullcap wich shows some soiling and wear, it have however no holes or fraying to it. Inside there is a handwritten size marking 21, 1/2 markings, the size is approx 56-56,5. On the rear skirt there is a stamp wich looks like "094 E" The E is for "EigentumstĂĽck" (privately purchased items). All in all a very solid ans nice pickelhaube, it have some very slight cracks and some outside wear as seen on the pictures.
